Lubango – At least 40 women of different nationalities living in Lubango city, central Huíla province, on Friday exchanged experiences on various aspects of their cultures, in an initiative of the Lubango Municipal Administration.
Present in the event were Russian, Colombian, Brazilian, Lebanese, Eritrean, Namibian, Chinese, Cuban, Congolese and Angolan women, the latter represented in the different ethnic groups of the country's cultural mosaic.
During the activity called "Women's Wheel", the participants discussed aspects linked to the habits and customs of each of them, with emphasis on male and female initiation rituals, religion, clothing and gastronomy, which, without losing their cultural essence, are enriched by each other.
Helga Chaves, Lubango's deputy municipal administrator for social, political and community affairs, said the aim of the meeting was to promote gender equality, social inclusion and the empowerment of women, regardless of their nationality, in order to overcome challenges and achieve the goals they have in common for the well-being of their families.
