Luanda – The Muhatu Energy Angola network mentoring programme will work with experienced women in the oil field to boost the development of their careers, as well as to encourage new talent to join the specialty.
The information was advanced Tuesday, in Luanda, by the president of the network, Natacha Massano, during the presentation session of the programme with the participation of the First Lady of Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço.
On the occasion, Natacha Massano informed that the Muhatu Energy aims to be focus on woman in order to understand their problems and sharing experiences with the objective to provide more opportunities related to career advancement and an increase in the number of women in the sector.
She added that 14% of women work in the oil sector in the country and most of them are about to retire.
Although the oil sector is an innovative industry, the figures are still not satisfactory, hence the need to reduce the gender disparity, a situation that forced the network to do a demographic study.
Regarding the areas, she stressed that the level of control and operations is reasonable, because the big difference is related to service provision and in management positions, as most of them have technical functions.
Natacha Massano regretted the fact that few young women are joining the industry and this will make the network to search for new talents in schools.
Muhatu Energy Angola is an initiative led by women in the oil sector, whose aim is to promote career opportunities and boost talent.
Officially created in March 2022, with support of oil companies, it has 73 female mentors and 45 male mentors.
The event was sponsored by the National Oil and Gas and Biofuel Agency.
