Luena – The Angolan eastern Moxico province recorded in 2023 a reduction of 19 cases of crimes of violence against children from a total of 108 reports compared to previous year, data from the National Children's Institute (INAC) has shown.
Speaking to ANGOP, the head of INAC's provincial services, Elias Samuxito, said of the 89 crimes of violence against minors, at least 24 were reported to justice authorities for proper accountability.
During this period, 14 children were reunited with their biological families and shelters, while two municipal networks for the protection and promotion of children's rights in the municipalities of Bundas and Luacano were created during the aforementioned period.
According to the National Statistics Institute, Moxico has over 1 million inhabitants and children, which represents 12 percent of the population scattered over the nine municipalities of the province. ISAU/TC/YD/DAN/AMP
