Huambo - The restructuring and modernization program for the Angola Public Television (TPA), which began in September 2019, will be completed in 2025, said this Saturday the chairman of the Board of Directors of this company, Francisco Mendes.
Francisco Mendes was speaking during the II Consultative Council of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS) opened on Friday, in the auditorium of the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR), on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, under the motto “Connect and Communicate for Citizenship”.
He informed that the first phase of the program began in September 2019, with the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the company, in a process that culminated in the inauguration of the new studios and the launch of the TPA Notícias (News) channel.
He said that this program is being led by five fundamental axes, namely organizational modernization, development of human capital, commercial and marketing area, content production and management, infrastructure and technological development
He made it known that the 2nd phase of the project will be completed, at the latest, in the first half of 2025, coinciding with the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, on November 11th.
At this moment, he continued, the bureaucratic program has begun to move forward with the 2nd phase of modernization, which will allow the launch of a new Sports and Culture channel, replacing TPA 2, under the guidance of the State, the main shareholder.
Francisco Mendes admitted that, currently, TPA's weakest link is the production of content, especially in terms of entertainment, which is why restructuring and adjustments to the programming schedule are necessary, in order to offer higher quality programs to viewers .
However, he stressed, this adjustment to the programming grid must comply with ethics, a good code of conduct, promiscuity and attitudes that promote moral well-being, as it is public, with added social responsibility.
The manager added that this phase of the restructuring also consists of the rehabilitation and assembly of equipment, so that there is more content on the programming schedule, especially national films and series, developed by local producers.
