Luanda – The minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, Manuel Homem, on Wednesday congratulated the Angolan journalists for Angola´s victory in the SADC 2022 Award, in two categories.
The minister expressed satisfaction through a congratulatory note addressed to ANGOP, due to the fact that Angola won two first place awards in the categories of Radio and Television, and a second place award in the Press category.
The winning of Angola of the SADC Award for Journalism 2022 Edition, was announced Wednesday in Kinshasa (DRC), during the 42nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
To the minister, this unique event in the history of Media fills the Angolan professionals with pride, as well as it demonstrates the recognition and valorization of the best done in the SADC region in this area.
The minister pointed out that the professionals demonstrated, once again, that the quality of the Angolan Communication is an exemplary reference in all the Southern Africa region, where each member state competes in this Award.
On behalf of the Executive, the minister expressed recognition to all Angolan journalists who have participated in editions of the SADC Journalism Award, a competition inserted in a shared vision and rooted in values, common principles, historical and cultural affinities existing between the peoples.
In the message, Manuel Homem urged journalists to continue participating with reports, chronicles, analysis texts, programmes, interviews, photographs and other journalistic genres in the competition, which has been running since 1996.
The SADC Journalism Award 2022 was awarded to Aristides Kito, from Angola National Radio station in Cuando Cubango Province, with the work on the “Impact of the locust plague on food security in SADC”, with an average of 74.06 points, on a scale of 100.
Journalist Cândido Calombe, from Angola Public Television, in the Province of Zaire, stood out in the Television category, with his work on the “Importance of the Zaire River in SADC”, scoring an average of 71.62 points.
Jaquelino Figueiredo, from the Angola public newspaper (Jornal de Angola), also in Zaire, came in second place in the Press category, with the work on “Cross-border trade between Angola and DRC / A sought after trade route, but which needs to remove obstacles”, scoring 70.06 points.
