Malanje- The Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, on Saturday in Malanje, appealed for the involvement of the population of the Ngola Luije commune in promoting the social and economic development of the region.
The commune of Ngola Luije will become a municipality in 2025, as part of the new Political-Administrative Division.
Adão de Almeida, who was speaking during a meeting with the population and the traditional and administrative authorities of the commune, recognised that the locality faces a number of difficulties, considering that by working together it will be possible to overcome them.
He said that one of the government's measures to resolve the community's problems is the new Political-Administrative Division which will cover several different localities in the municipality, including Ngola Luije.
The government official highlighted that the Ngola Luije population will end the dependence on the municipality of Malanje, as it will bring social services to citizens and the problems will be solved locally, although it will need new cadres and financial resources.
The Minister of State, reiterated that the programmes such as Kwenda social monetary transfer, poverty combat and the Integrated Plan for Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM), created by the government, are resulting in the construction of schools, hospital units and other infrastructures, as well as many social actions that have been changing the living conditions of citizens.
In turn, the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, said that they had noted the difficulties presented by the citizens and guaranteed that some issues would be resolved.
During his stay in Ngola Luije, Adão de Almeida visited various social infrastructures and checked the state of the road and some of the bridges that give access to the communal headquarters.
The commune is 37 kilometres from the municipal seat of Malanje and covers an area of 651 square kilometres, with an estimated population of 12,990 inhabitants, mostly peasants.
Adão de Almeida is in Malanje as part of the 10th Forum of Angolan Municipalities and Cities (FMCA), which took place on Friday. RM/NC/PBC/MRA/DOJ
