Luanda - The minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTSS), Teresa Dias, recommended on Friday, in Luanda Province, an increase in the budgetary allocation of the National Employment Fund for the year 2025.
The government official participated in a joint session of the 1st, 4th and 5th committees of the National Assembly that assessed, in particular, the Angolan government's proposal on the General State Budget for 2025.
Teresa Dias expressed happiness with the advocacy carried out by MPs, regarding the implementation of the National Employment Fund.
The minister said that if the increase is accumulated, the fund could play a leading role in the issue of employability at country level.
For the government official, the mentioned fund, with a budget allocation of 27.9 billion Kwanzas, has served as the financial arm of the National Employment Agenda for 2024.
She added that it is a strategic instrument to coordinate employability actions, guaranteeing the diversification of the training offer and providing young people with professional qualifications in strategic sectors.
On the other hand, the minister spoke about a technical and vocational center named “Cidadela of Successful Youth” and the construction of rural training schools, with an allocation of 7.7 billion Kwanzas.
She revealed that the country has nine successful centers that provide vocational and academic training to young people in grades 7 to 9, with a focus on agriculture.
Regarding the improvement of retirement pensions and social protection, Teresa Dias recognized the need to adapt the system to the new international reality.
In this vein, the minister mentioned that they are working on improving the Basic Law of Mandatory Social Protection, with a view to offering improvements to pensioners.
