Caxito – Angolan minister of Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto on Tuesday suggested a better follow-up to poverty fighting program in order to improve the populations’ living standards.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday at the end of an evaluation visit, the minister said that the Integrated Program for Local Development and Poverty Fighting is progressing well despite of some mistakes that need to be corrected.
“The results of poverty fighting program are already visible in the communities, but we still need to improve some aspects”, she stressed.
Meanwhile, the provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, acknowledged the need to make some corrections to the program in order to make it more efficient.
The governor explained that the program has been developed since couple of years ago, which means that there maybe things going well and others not necessarily, advising for some changes to update its goals and provide a better support to populations.
Maria Antónia Nelumba referred that the capacity-building and institutional strengthening training aimed at municipal administrators, their deputies and municipal directors of the Study, Planning and Statistics Offices (GEPE) will allow greater action to better serve local people.
The province of Bengo has six municipalities (Dande, Ambriz, Nambuangongo, Dembos, Bula Atumba and Pango Aluquém), has an estimated population of 515,967 inhabitants, most of them engaged in agricultural activity, artisanal fishing and hunting.
