Luanda - The State Minister for Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira, Thursday in Luanda reiterated the Government commitment to continue working for the protection and welfare of the most vulnerable children, so that they grow healthy from the physical, psychological and spiritual point of view.
Carolina Cerqueira, who was speaking during a visit to the Santíssimo Salvador Catholic Shelter Centre, underlined that children are part of the political agenda and of the Government's concerns, as several projects directed to minors, particularly girls, are promoted to give them dignity of life.
"We are aware that the number of girls on the streets, abandoned and in need is high, we are not standing still and we are not excluding ourselves from the commitment of doing everything to help this fringe of society", she underlined.
She said that the visit to the Shelter Centre is part of the implementation of the National Development Plan in which the social area, particularly the family, has priority.
According to Carolina Cerqueira, the government has been working with international organisations such as the United Nations, Unesco and Unicef, so that the problems of children are integrated into the policies and agendas of the governments.
The State minister highlighted the role of the Catholic Church in supporting people in need and in educating children about cultural, civic and ethical values.
