Luanda - The Minister of State for Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira, discussed this Thursday with the regional director of the World Food Programme, Menghestab Haile, the implementation of actions in favour of vulnerable populations and to combat drought in the centre-south of the country.
During the meeting, the minister also referred to the Kwenda programme, school meals, the use of new technologies in the teaching and learning process, among other actions.
Carolina Cerqueira said that the focus is on social inclusion, improving quality and mitigating the harmful effects of drought.
According to the minister, Angola hopes to count on WFP's support for the implementation of the programmes designed and under execution to mitigate the effects of drought and empower women.
In this regard, Menghestab Haile assured the organisation's support for the materialisation of the programmes in favour of the most vulnerable, advising the country to take advantage of the experience of other countries, among which Egypt, in the widening of distance learning, with recourse to the use of new technologies.
