Luanda - The wife of the first president of Angola Maria Eugénia Neto Friday considered the new International Airport, named after her husband, Dr António Agostinho, a deserved tribute.
Maria Eugénia Neto, said so shortly before the landing of the experimental flight at "Dr António Agostinho Neto" International Airport, in Luanda.
An airport of the kind in his homeland is very important. "I think it is a beautiful tribute that was made, we are very happy", she commended .
That is a good idea, as it coincides with the centenary year of Agostinho Neto, said Maria Eugénia Neto, who called for the need to pay attention to the locality where he (Dr António Agostinho Neto) was born: Caxicane.
The works of the new airport are in 60% of its physical execution, believing that in June of next year the infrastructure will be delivered.
The new airport, which occupies an area of 1,324 hectares, will offer several services, with stress to hotels, rail transport, General Tax Administration (AGT) Office, Fire brigade department, and a car park with a capacity for 1,000 vehicles.
The infrastructure completion works are estimated at around USD 3.4 billion.
Located in Bom Jesus, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, the new Luanda International Airport was designed to receive 15 million passengers a year.
Of this number, 10 million are international passengers and five million domestic.
It will absorb a volume of goods of 50 thousand tons/year and occupies an area of 1,324 hectares.
