Huambo – One million, 485 thousand 532 vulnerable households from 87 municipalities in the country are, to date, registered in the Integrated Social Protection Information System (SIIPS) in an initiative by the Local Development Institute.
The information was provided, this Tuesday, by the general director of the Institute, Belarmino Jelembi, during the official presentation of the SIIPS platform, to members of the Government of the province of Huambo, who said that it was a total of three million, 990 thousand 560 people.
He explained that the SIIPS, with important information on needy people in different regions of the country, results from the family registration process, within the framework of the Social Protection System Strengthening Program (Kwenda).
He reported that, of the one million, 485 thousand 532 vulnerable households registered, to date, one million, 29 thousand 393 members have already benefited from social monetary transfers.
According to the person responsible, the SIIPS has basic social information, categorized by vulnerable groups, with the aim of assisting in planning and managing the implementation of programs and projects to support families in the 87 municipalities.
Regarding Productive Inclusion, he said that the program directly benefited 25 thousand 324 families and, indirectly, another 84 thousand 260, with 18 thousand 187 new households currently registered.
Within the framework of the Municipalization of Social Action, another component of the program, he said that 59 Integrated Centers (CASI) are being created, of which 22 have already been delivered and in operation, having served 90 thousand 175 beneficiaries.
He added that SIIPS also holds information on 1,603 families already benefiting from civil registration, namely their personal card and Identity Card.
In turn, the governor of the province of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, thanked the FAS for choosing this region of the country to present the SIIPS, which aims to make detailed information on Kwenda beneficiaries available to the local government and municipal administrations, in addition to assist in the implementation of other social projects.
He expressed his willingness to use the capabilities of the SIIPS platform for planning and managing programs and projects in municipalities, with a focus on the social well-being of families.
He highlighted the importance of Kwenda in supporting vulnerable families, whose implementation takes place during the reforms planned in the National Social Protection System, with the aim of reducing poverty in communities in the short and medium term.
He reported that in the province of Huambo, Kwenda reached five municipalities, namely Bailundo, Cachiungo, Ecunha, Londuimbali and Mungo, with a total of 209 thousand registered households, of which 173 thousand 206 have already benefited from social monetary transfers.
Kwenda is valued at 420 million US dollars, with financing from the World Bank of 320 million dollars, while the remaining 100 million comes from the National Treasury, to serve, in phases, one million 608 thousand needy families in the country. ZZN/JSV/ALH/DOJ
