Luanda - Luanda municipal administration launched Monday the first edition of the "Cleaner Green" award, with the aim to recognise works carried out by the seven Urban Districts of the province in favour of the ecosystem.
The award to be held annually will assess five aspects such as public cleanliness, forestation, commercial and traffic reorganisation and Christmas decorations.
According to the coordinator of the prize, Isabel Ganga, the award is valued at 10 million kwanzas and aims to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development objectives relating to environmental protection.
Isabel Ganga added that the award ceremony is scheduled for December 29 and that residents will be able to evaluate the actions undertaken.
The Deputy Municipal Administrator of Luanda, Cláudio Revelas, on his turn, said the aim is to get communities engaged in local projects and to bring social responsibility to citizens through the idea that the community's basic problems can be solved with joint actions.
