Huambo – A total of 194,961 vulnerable families in the municipalities of Bailundo, Cachiungo, Ecunha, Londuimbali and Mungo, in the province of Huambo benefited, between 2021 and 2024, from the Social Monetary Strengthening and Transfers program (Kwenda).
The information was provided, on Wednesday, by the director of the Institute of Local Development (FAS) in the province of Huambo, Chimuma de Oliveira, during the 1st ordinary session of the Govt of the province of Huambo, chaired by governor Pereira Alfredo.
On the occasion, the governor official said that they were needy families who benefited from social monetary transfers, since the opening of the process in this region of the Central Plateau.
He made it known that Kwenda has disbursed, to date in the province of Huambo, 20.87 billion, allocated up to the 4 and 5 instalments in some of these municipalities.
To this end, he informed that 209,004 families are registered in the municipalities of Bailundo, Cachiungo, Ecunha, Londuimbali and Mungo.
As next steps, Chimuma de Oliveira pointed out the recurrence of payments from missing municipalities, as well as the registration of specific groups, from people with albinism, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses, in addition to the continuous training of Adecos.
He said that Kwenda is showing good results in the province of Huambo, so it will progress to phase two, which covers early childhood cases, malnutrition and registration of families with a high degree of vulnerability.
The meeting assessed, among others, the review of the works of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) of the Emergency Plan, actions to combat poverty, the implementation of Njila, the collection of local revenue and the “Vimbo lyeto” and “Votoka” programs.
