Saurimo – Mariana Guine, journalist of the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) delegation in eastern Lunda Sul province, Wednesday won the Provincial Journalism Award, in the press category.
The awarding ceremony was held during an event promoted by the Provincial Directorate of Media, as part of the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of National Independence marked on Wednesday.
Mariana Guine won the award with a report that portrays the impact of the improvement of the health sector in the province.
Amaro de Jesus and Hortênsio Michel, of the Angola Public Television (TPA) and the provincial broadcaster Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), respectively, won the award in the television and radio categories.
The journalists Adão Diogo (from Edições Novembro), Domingos Kitunga (RNA) and the photographer Paulino Mutula were honored during the event.
On the occasion, the vice-governor for the political and social sector of Lunda Sul, Mendes Gaspar, who presented the awards, congratulated the winners and asked for dedication and commitment, so that they can transmit information to the people about social, economic, political and cultural aspects of the country and the world.
The award was divided into three categories: Press, Radio and Television. Each winner received the equivalent of 700,000 kwanzas.
The Provincial Journalism Award in Lunda Sul province was established in 2006 by the local government with the aim to stimulate production and creativity of journalistic activity in the region.
