Huambo - At least 5401 young people received technical and vocational training by the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) in the central province of Huambo in 2024, compared to 2,098 trained in 2023.
The information was disclosed to ANGOP on Tuesday by the head of INEFOP's Employment and Vocational Training, Yury Pereira, underlining that the figure is the result of the tripling of training cycles, with the aim of promoting self-employment.
Pereira added that the figures has tripled as a result of campaigns aimed at young people regarding the value of technical and vocational training in their communities and the implementation of mass training policies, in a process developed with the help of municipal administrations.
The INEFOP official explained that in 2024, 24 vocational technical courses related to agriculture, masonry, general accounting, sewing, plumbing, carpentry, hairdressing, barbering, cooking and pastry, event decoration, civil construction design, low and high voltage electricity received huge attention at the center.
He added that the range of courses also includes Entrepreneurship, Administrative Management, Construction Execution, IT, Building Electrical Installations, Tiling, Car Mechanics, Satellite Dish Assembly, Locksmithing, Topography and Agricultural Mechanization, in a dynamic of short, medium and long term training.
Yury Pereira said that of the 5,401 graduates, 845 young people have found jobs in various companies after requesting skilled labor from INEFOP, while another 1,100 have benefited from paid internships lasting between three and six months in 107 public/private institutions.
In 2024, INEFOP also trained 115 instructors in various technical-professional specialties through the National Training Center for Instructors (CENFFOR). LT/JSV/ALH/DAN/AMP
