Luanda – Some 500,000 youths from Angola’s eighteen provinces are to benefit from employment promotion projects, in the framework of training and upgrading programmes in the areas of agriculture, energy, civil construction, commerce and services.
The announcement was made on Friday (7) in Luanda, by the director of the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP), Manuel Bangue, after a consultation meeting with young people, having disclosed that the financing of the project, which is in the neighbourhood of USD 250,000, will be made available by the World Bank.
The project, expected to benefit young people aged between 18 and 35, is designed to help youths transition in the labour market with integration support measures, such as job placement and contacts with firms.
Manuel Bangue said that the programme should cover 500,000 youths, 38% to 50% of them ought to be women and at least six per cent is reserved for people with disabilities.
Thus, the director pointed out that one of the main reference zones in which the project is to be implemented is the Lobito Corridor, where one can find several business initiatives that can be useful to young people.
