Menongue - Angolan Roads Institute (INEA) said it started Monday the works on the ravine threatening to cut the road circulation on National Road 140, in the south-east Cuando Cubango province.
ANGOP learnt that it has to do with a ravine in the section that connects the municipalities of Menongue/Cuangar/Calai/Dirico, which is progressing as a result of heavy rains that have hit the region in recent days.
The work consisting of soil removal, erosion containment, resulting from the progression of the ravine in the commune of Caiundo/Ombala Tchau, the province of Cuando Cubango.
INEA director, Joaquim Domingos, assured that there is urgency to intervene in this locality to accommodate traffic, as it is the only road linking the municipalities along the border with the Republic of Namibia.
Ravines in progress and threatening to destroy social infrastructure and residences are those in the municipalities of Cuangar with 17, Menongue 13 and Dirico 11.
