Sumbe - The National Demining Institute (INAD), in central Cuanza Sul province, has cleared roughly 16.8 million square meters of land this year to enable the free circulation of people and expansion of the cultivation fields.
Speaking to the press, the head of the INAD in Cuanza Sul, Francisco Augusto, said the action counted on the collaboration of the population, who helped locate the mined areas, which will serve essentially for agriculture.
Augusto pointed out that the Cuanza Sul province is the third most mined province in the country, following the Cuando Cubango and Moxico provinces, which demands greater capacity from the demining companies.
Cuanza Sul province has 12 municipalities and 36 communes and a territorial area of 55,660 square kilometers.
