Huambo – The National Children's Institute (INAC) in central Huambo province has expressed concern with the number of minors victims of abuse (21) registered from January to date, among girls and boys.
The head of INAC's provincial services in Huambo, Eusébio Victorino Evaristo, told ANGOP on Friday, highlighting that the most recent case was the rape of a 14 year-old minor by three strangers.
Victorino explained that the minor was taken to Huambo General Hospital for medical assistance, while investigation is underway for the presumed perpetrators to be arrested.
The INAC official added that the incident, like the other 20, called the institution's attention through complaints made to the INAC call center 15015, mostly by family members and witnesses.
He added that the cases were forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) for better treatment, at a time when the institution promises to be more ruthless with these acts.
Eusébio Evaristo called for cases of this kind to be reported and for psychological support to the victims, as the abused child grows up with physical and emotional trauma, which leaves her with lifelong consequences. JSV/ALH/AMP
