Menongue - The head of the provincial services of the National Children's Institute (INAC), Lérias Biwango, on Sunday in Cuando Cubango Province called for greater attention and responsibility from parents in protecting the most sublime rights of children, aiming for their integral growth.
The official launched this appeal when she was speaking at the provincial event in the ambit of the commemoration of June 16th, African Children's Day, held at Dr. António Agostinho Neto Square, in partnership with the local gospel group Tulemesenu.
Lérias Biwango reiterated that it is necessary for parents to seriously reflect on the protection of children, so that they do not continue to be victims of violence, from physical, psychological, sexual abuse, child labour and family abandonment.
At the time, she announced the holding, in Menongue, on the 20th of this month, of an assembly to elect two children who will represent Cuando Cubango, at the Children's Parliament, in Luanda, scheduled to take place at the end of June, this year.
She explained that the Children's Parliament aims to provide opportunities for children to speak on behalf of others regarding the protection of their rights.
In turn, the director of the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office in Cuando Cubango, José Eduardo Ezequias, said it is important to work harder for the adequate growth of children.
Representing the governor of that province, José Martins, the official argued that children constitute the social structure of society's moral reserve, and it is therefore imperative to invest in their continued education.
To this end, the director calls the attention of parents and families to become increasingly involved in the child's educational development.
The event on June 16th at Cuando Cubango was enhanced with gospel-style songs, performed by children from the Tulemesenu group.
