Huambo – The work of the II Consultative Council of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Mass Media (MINTTICS), which opened on Friday, continues this Saturday, with approaches to the restructuring and modernization program of public companies.

The focal point of the meeting, which takes place at the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR) on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, under the guidance of the incumbent MINTICS minister, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira, is the presentation of the strategic plan and projects of the sector, of the programs of the Media, Telecommunications and Information Technologies subsectors.

It includes, in addition to the approach to the restructuring, modernization program and challenges of public companies in the sector, thinkings on the experiences and challenges of UNITEL, ZAP, DSTV and TV ZIMBO.

In his opening speech, Mário Oliveira highlighted the importance of the sector in the modernization of the Angolan economy.

The official highlighted that the telecommunications and information technology sector plays an important role in the modernization of the Angolan economy, as it contributes directly and indirectly to its growth.

Participating in the event, which takes place under the motto “Connect and Communicate for Citizenship”, are MINTTICS State secretaries, board directors of companies in the sector, national directors and general directors of supervised institutions, consultants, directors of Institutional press offices, press attachés, directors of provincial media offices and partner associations.

The first Advisory Council took place in August 2021 in Luanda, the country's capital.

MINTTICS

The Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, abbreviated as “MINTTICS”, is the Auxiliary Ministerial Department of the Holder of the Executive Power, whose mission is to propose the formulation, conduct, execution and control of policy in the areas of telecommunications, information technologies for postal services, meteorology and geophysics, social communications, advertising, oriented towards the country's internal and external connection.

It includes the structuring of the general lines, norms and standards of institutional communication to be carried out by the different Ministerial Departments, with support whenever necessary from MINTTICS.
