Benguela – The General Labor Inspectorate in Benguela city ordered the “Niva Zamba” plywood factory to reopen, ten days after it was shut down due to various irregularities, ANGOP has learnt.
The company had been shut down for failing to pay social security, vacation allowances, lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), namely noise mufflers, boots, work suits, suitable gloves and helmets, for 106 workers.
According to the head IGT, Dulce Livongue, the factory in question, owned by Chinese citizens, has already started registering the workers in the National Social Security Institute (INSS) system.
It is also paying vacation allowances as well as settling the issue of wages and working hours.
The official said that the offending company, despite complying with these requirements, was also forced to pay a fine of more than two million kwanzas.
Without giving any figures, Dulce Livongue said that other companies, in the construction industry and other sectors, had also been closed down in Benguela in recent days due to various labor violations.
The IGT official said the reopening of doors is dependent on compliance with the recommendations and the payment of the respective fines.
