Uige - The São Francisco de Assis parish in Uíge, founded in 1971, is due to start celebrations of its 50th anniversary, on 18 October, to be presided over by the bishop of the provincial diocese, Joaquim Nhanganga Tyombe.
To be commemorated on 27 December, the Jubilee is a religious commemoration of the Catholic Church, celebrated within a Holy Year, but what makes it different is that the Jubilee celebration takes place every 25 years.
Speaking about the event, the parish priest of São Francisco de Assis, Domingos Nelindo de Sousa, said it was a moment for the Catholic community to give thanks to God for the 50 years of pilgrimage, allowing the conversion of many brothers in the faith and committed to Christian life.
Regarding the upcoming activity, he said that conditions are being created so that the faithful from different communities, groups and movements may participate in the event, as a parish community.
Among the activities are the community baptism of a thousand children under five years old, as part of the "Life of Faith" campaign, celebrations of community weddings, and the registration for these activities began last March.
"The Christian manifestation will contribute to the spiritual renewal of the faithful, who continuously need the seed, created 50 years ago, to germinate in the new generations and the continuous spiritual formation" he reaffirmed.
