Uige - The Secretary of State for Urbanism and Housing, Manuel da Costa, reaffirmed on Thursday in Uige province, the government's commitment to continue promoting policies of social inclusion and guaranteeing the right of the population to adequate housing.
These commitments are anchored in the assumptions of development, spatial planning, urban and sustainable growth.
The Minister made the statement during the presentation of the consultancy for the preparation of the Municipal Development Program (PDM) for Maquela do Zombo and Bembe.
Manuel da Costa considered it essential to draw up and approve spatial planning instruments in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), making cities and municipalities stronger, more inclusive, safer, more resilient and more sustainable.
The harmonious and sustainable development of a territory, as well as the prosperity of families and the well-being of communities, depends on the materialization of the premises of spatial planning, urban planning, rural planning and decent housing," stressed Manuel da Costa.
Helena Pereira, deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, considered it an important step to draw up the Municipal Development Programs for these two municipalities in the region, with the aim of building social infrastructure to boost the various sectors and improve the conditions of the population.
She reminded that in Uige Province there are only two Municipal Development Programs (PDMs), in the municipalities of Uige and Negage.
