The appeal was made by the province’s deputy governor for the Social, Economic and Political sector, Frederico Barroso, at the public consultations for the implementation of the ‘Project for employment and opportunities for young people in Angola’, adding that the lack of technical qualifications has impeded many young people to join the labor market.
Frederico Barroso stressed that although Chitato municipality, where there is the highest concentration of young people in Lunda-Norte, does not have a vocational training, the government is making efforts to give this group access to professional courses, through the National Institute for Employment and Professional Training, through mobile centers available.
In addition to the mobile centers, Chitato has a building where the Local Centre for Entrepreneurship and Employment Services (CLESE) operates.
The official said he expects the meeting to find short and medium term solutions to increase the supply of training in the province, with an emphasis on courses that guarantee immediate employment, especially in the diamond subsector.
