Luanda - Angolan government Friday in Luanda honored 28 women who stood out in 2021, in the political, economic, family, educational, rural production fields, among other areas, as part of the National Woman of Merit Award.
Among those deserved the tribute the Minister of State for the Social Area Carolina Cerqueira, Minister of Finance Vera Daves, Vice President of the ruling MPLA party Luísa Damião.
Tribute was also extended to Albina Assis, the former handball player Palmira Barbosa, among other women.
The honorees were entitled, among others, to diplomas and statuettes.
The Woman of Merit award, approved through Presidential Decree number 35/22, aims to stimulate the merit, excellence, competence, pro-activity and resilience of Angolan women.
The award is also a way of contributing to social development, encouraging the appreciation of Angolan habits and customs, promoting civic and patriotic principles, solidarity, self-improvement, abnegation and personal fulfillment of women.
