Icolo e Bengo - A technical team from the Government of the Province of Luanda (GPL), led by the vice-governor for the social area, Manuel Gonçalves, met on Monday, with priests, responsible for carrying out the pilgrimage to the Muxima Sanctuary, targeting the last organizational arrangements for the event.
The meeting, the last before the event takes place in the municipality of Quiçama, took place at the premises of Rádio Maria, in the municipality of Viana and aimed to discuss possible lacks regarding the accommodation of the faithful.
At the end of the meeting, the Quiçama municipal administrator, Níria Marques, informed that areas are prepared for setting up tents, as well as water and electricity, for all during the event.
"These are not the best conditions but they are possible due to the restructuring that the town of Muxima is undergoing," she said.
In turn, the event's spokesperson, Father Queiroz Figueira, stated that the event will be marked by confessions, vigils, Eucharistic celebrations and catechesis.
According to the pilgrimage program, on the 30th the first religious mass will take place, presided over by Father Adelino Calonda, followed by catechesis, culminating with an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
At 7am on the 31st, another mass takes place, to be led by Father Filas José, vicar general of the Diocese of Viana, followed by confessions, prayer of the rosary, waiting at 6pm for the arrival of the image of mother Muxima, waterway, which will be welcomed with fireworks and Marian chants played by the Angolan Armed Forces Musical Band.
The opening of the pilgrimage is scheduled for 7 pm on the 31st, with a mass to be presided over by the bishop of the Diocese of Porto, Portugal, Dom Manuel da Silva Linda, followed then, from 9 pm, by the prayer watch.
The closure, on September 1st, is scheduled for 9 am, under the responsibility of the archbishop of the Humbo's Archdiocese, Dom Zeca Martins.
The pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Muxima is annual and in this edition, it takes place from August 30th to September 1st, under the motto, "With Maria Let us Live in Faith the Year of Prayer". AJQ/CF/DOJ
