Ondjiva - The governor of Cunene, Gerdina Didalelwa, Tuesday, Ombala Yo Mungo community, Ombadja municipality, reaffirmed the provincial government's continued commitment to the materialization of social actions to improve the well-being of the population.
Speaking to the press at the end of the consultation meeting with the local community, the governor said that education, health, water and access roads are among the priorities of the government.
According to the governor, the drought that has plagued some areas of Ombala yo Mungo is one of the main concerns of the communities, as it has been raining irregularly for the past five years, so new measures are being developed.
"We are thinking of building a pipe from the Cafu canal to the Ombala Yo Mungo community center, along a route of two and a half kilometers, to solve the problem of access to water for consumption by our people," said the governor.
Gerdina Didalelwa emphasized that among the provinces affected by the cyclical drought in the country, Cunene has benefited the most, pointing to the completion of the Cafu project and the ongoing work on the Calucuve, Ndue and Cova do Leão dams, which demonstrate the Executive's concern in this area.
The Governor called on the families to engage in productive work, especially along the Cafu Canal, so that they could practice irrigated agriculture and no longer depend on rainfall, which has been very irregular.
The meeting was attended by traditional authorities, religious bodies, political parties with seats in parliament and the population in general.
