Luanda - Angolan government has announced plans for creation, in the next days, of a Welfare Fund to ensure the complementary retirement of the Media professionals, according to the Secretary of State for the sector.
Nuno Caldas Albino announced so on Monday at the launch ceremony of the 2021/2022 Edition of the National Journalism Prize, set for November.
He said professionals from public and private house outlets may join the welfare Fund voluntarily.
The official added that the Angolan government, through the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technology and Media, took up and laid down four key pillars for the improvement of the sector and the condition of Media professionals.
He mentioned, among others, the legislative reform, adjustment of the media legislative package and inclusion into the legal system.
Nuno Caldas Albino also announced government’s plans to open the country’s largest Journalists' Training Center in the central Huambo province.
The official also spoke of the need for the institutionalisation of the National Journalism Prize, in view of its pedagogical and recognition role in promoting the quality and merit of the professionals, through incentive, creativity and journalistic investigation.
