Caxito - The provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, visited yesterday, in the town of Açucareira, municipality of Dande, the rehabilitation and expansion works of the memorial of the Heroes of the Fatherland, of the First Political-Military Region, to better guarantee convenience to visitors.
Valued at around 180 million kwanzas, the works are being carried out by the company Hatchaval, Engenharia e Construção Civil.
At the end of the visit, the government official ordered the acceleration of the pace of work and its completion within two months.
Once completed, the work will have more compartments, a raft and a landscape.
Remember that it was in the first political-military region that after the 4th of February 1961, the people of Dembos, namely the populations of Úcua, Nambuangongo, Piri, Quibaxi, Quiaji, Pango Aluquém, Bula Atumba, Cerca and others organized themselves and supported the armed struggle, transforming the region into the cradle of colonial resistance.
