Chinjenje - The governor of Huambo province, Pereira Alfredo on Thursday in Huambo assed the completion process of 10 works included in the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM) and which have been suspended for two years in the municipality of Chinjenje.
After seeing some works in the municipality of Chinjenje, he interacted with businesspeople about the physical and financial execution of social infrastructures, which started between 2019 and 2020, whose execution should have taken six months to a year, in agreement with signed contracts.
Among the works found, a school with seven classrooms, the Administrator and Justice palaces, the Health Department, the water supply substation and the tertiary and secondary roads, stands out.
Without revealing the budget and total of works included in PIIM in the municipality, Pereira Alfredo said that businesspeople who take on the responsibility of carrying out work in the locality must comply with the signed contract, so as not to stop social development.
He stressed that, based on what he found, some works are completed and others are at a standstill, hence he gave viable and necessary recommendations, so that the works can be resumed urgently, to be available to the population of the municipality, who really want.
Pereira Alfredo stressed that each of the 10 suspended projects are being proven down to the smallest detail, taking into account the communities' complaints, as, although the contractual clauses are mandatory, the government demands their resumption and completion.
He highlighted that Chinjenje has enormous and urgent challenges that need to be resolved, namely the urban infrastructure of the municipal headquarters, electricity and water, secondary and tertiary roads, among others, which will be resolved in due course, gradually.
During his working day of a few hours in Chinjenje, the provincial governor exchange ideas with different section of society, having promised greater collaboration with traditional authorities as well as religious entities, to solve the main social and economic problems that concern the population
In the locality, the governor, among others, delivered work instruments such as hoes and machetes, a three-wheeled motorcycle, an unspecified quantity of fertilizer 12/24/12, ammonium and urea, plows, motor pumps and fire starters to 200 peasant families, grouped into four cooperatives and two agricultural associations.
The municipality of Chinjenje has 38 agricultural cooperatives, 23 peasant associations, 88 field schools and five farms.
It is located 118 kilometers west of the city of Huambo and has an estimated population of 42,658, distributed across two municipalities (Chiaka and Sede). ZZN/JSV/ALH/MRA/DOJ
