Luanda – The Governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, this Wednesday guaranteed that the citizens are at the centre of the concerns of the provincial executive, deserving an increasingly humane treatment.
Speaking in the ambit of the 447th foundation anniversary of Luanda City, marked January 25, the governor pledged to give Luanda citizens greater attention, plus “a more and more humane treatment and an attentive hearing to their concerns”.
In his official message in the ambit of the date, Manuel Homem recognised that his executive has many challenges to overcome and concrete actions to set in motion, aiming at providing solutions to problems.
After deeming Luanda a cosmopolitan city – which is home to roughly ten million people – he reminded that despite its problems, Luanda has various attractions, including its history, “which we are called to keep alive”, he emphasised.
Over the years, he said, people have found in Luanda a space for shelter, residence, work or academic training, thus being a place of opportunities and broad challenges.
Luanda was founded on January 25, 1576, by the Portuguese navigator Paulo Dias de Novais. It is the capital of the Republic of Angola.
