Uíge – The Provincial Governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, asked for the traditional authorities to be active in raising awareness among the population about preventive measures against cholera.
Speaking Friday, in the municipality of Negage, at the consultation meeting that brought together traditional authorities and municipal administrators, José Carvalho da Rocha, said that although there are no cases of the disease recorded in the country, it is necessary to reinforce prevention measures, as the province shares a long border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), devastated by the outbreak of the disease.
He reported that in the province of Uíge, health authorities are already working to prevent the emergence of cases of the disease.
He said that the message should be passed with greater incidence in border municipalities, such as Maquela do Zombo, Milunga and Quimbele.
The meeting also discussed socio-economic issues in the province, credits for entrepreneurs, rehabilitation and construction of roads, bridges, installation of higher education centers in municipalities and support programs for family farming. QJ/NM/VIC/CF/DOJ
