Thirty-seven new schools will be built in the province of Uíge, as part of a government program aimed at reducing the number of children out of the normal education system, the Governor José Carvalho da Rocha said.
These are primary schools, of the I and II cycles of education, to be built within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
The governor of Uíge was speaking at the listening meeting, which he held with religious leaders, to collect contributions for the development of the province.
He explained that these infrastructures will be built in the regions bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to prevent many Angolan children from crossing the border to study in the neighboring territory, due to the lack of schools.
He also announced the construction, in the coming years, of 10 new schools with 24 classrooms, to be financed by Spain, which will join the other five already opened, in the municipalities of Uíge, Songo and Quimbele.
He also clarified that the province plans to soon have six new technical schools for training in the areas of mechanics, electricity, civil construction, welding, electronics and information technologies.
The governor recalled that the PIIM has allowed the construction of new infrastructures, with emphasis on schools, health centers, roads and water supply systems.
In the field of health, José Carvalho said that the PIIM is allowing the construction of four new hospitals in the province of Uíge, in the municipalities of Cangola, Ambuila, Bembe and Milunga.
The governor also highlighted PIIM's actions in paving about 12 kilometers of roads in the streets of the municipalities of Negage and Púri, which allowed improvements in vehicles and people mobility.
Among other actions being carried out, he also spoke of the construction of two new water supply systems, in the municipalities of Maquela do Zombo and Damba, construction of the new General Hospital of Uíge and the football stadium of Quilomosso. NM/OHA/DOJ
