Luanda - The governor of Luanda province, Manuel Homem on Friday in the municipality of Luanda, assessed the degree of preparation of drainage infrastructures, in view of the approach of the rainy season, which officially begins on August 15.
Manuel Homem noted the cleaning process of the drainage ditches of Rio Seco, Rua da Camuxiba and Zamba 2, in Rua da Pracinha, in the municipality of Luanda, where the work to remove solid waste and debris continues to take place normally.
During the visit, the governor also directed the clearance of the drainage system along the Korea road that prevents the normal course of water to the ditch of the Seco River, as well as the removal of the vendors that are located on Rua António Agostinho Neto, Azul neighborhood.
Speaking to the press, Governor Manuel Homem said that the cleaning work is part of the maintenance program of ditches, gutters and retention basins in the province of Luanda, in order to minimize as much as possible the consequences that the province suffers due to the rain.
In this context, the governor acknowledged the difficulties that the province faces during the rainy season, and said that one of the solutions found is to ensure the continuous maintenance of the drainage bodies, a process that takes place throughout Luanda.
Therefore, he was also concerned about the degree of civility of the communities that continue to dispose of solid waste at the level of the ditches, a fact that requires awareness campaigns to be carried out for residents living along the drainage ditches, informing that several interventions are being carried out at the level of the municipalities of Viana and Cazenga.
In the province of Luanda, the rainy season brings with it numerous constraints, from impassable streets, flooded houses and public/private institutions, felling of trees, as well as overflow of drainage ditches and retention basins. ANM/PA/DOJ
