Luanda – Public servants have a new normal work period of seven hours a day, from 8am to 3pm, corresponding to 35 hours per week, says a statement issued by the Ministry of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTESS).
Based on the Law no. 26/22, of August 22 , Framework Law of the Civil Service, the current working hours of the public service from Monday to Friday, replaces the previous one that was from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
"The working hours for civil servants and administrative agents coincide with the period of operation of the respective organs, organisms and services, and those in charge of the legal entities should provide their employees with a rest period for meals of at least 45 minutes, without prejudice to the permanent service to citizens", reads the note.
The document adds that the specificities of the provinces in which the geographic, climatic and labour conditions justify, there should be a different working regime unlike those foreseen in number 1 of article 57 of the referred legal tool.
Data from the MAPTESS indicate that the Civil Service employs a total of 495,000 workers.
