Lubango – At least 30 officers of the National Police Firefighters and the National Institute of Medical Emergencies of Angola (INEMA) in central Huila province are being trained in search and rescue techniques in risk and accident situations by American instructors.
The training being carried out in theoretical and practical classes is part of the 1st International Climbing Festival of Angola, taking place from August 16 to 25 on the cliffs of Serra da Leba.
It aims to reinforce the knowledge of technicians to preserve life and minimize damage caused by accidents or natural disasters.
There are several types of rescue techniques, each suited to a specific situation. Among the most common are rescues at height, in water, in vehicles, in natural disasters and in confined spaces, using ropes, carabineers, buoys, life detectors, among other materials.
These techniques are applied by professionals who use specific equipment to ensure the safety of both victims and technicians.
In addition to training for police, firefighters and INEMA technicians, the Angola International Climbing Festival is holding other activities, such as slack lining, bolting workshops, route development, climbing classes, live music, movie nights , traditional dance and local crafts. MS/MS/TED/AMP
