Cuango – The 25,220 vulnerable families in the municipality of Cuango, in Lunda Norte Province, selected by the Social Protection Strengthening Program named Kwenda, have already benefited from four monetary transfers, the director of the Social Support Fund (FAS), João Nascimento, said Monday.
He highlighted that billion Kwanzas are available to pay the installments.
He clarified that the group of families that were absent in the first phase will receive 165,000 Kwanzas corresponding to four installments.
“Those who received the first payment and did not show up for the second and third will receive 132,000 Kwanzas and those who received all three will receive 66,000 Kwanzas”, he highlighted.
He said that payment will take 45 days and will benefit vulnerable families from 145 villages in the communes of Cuango (headquarters), Loremo and Cafunfo.
In Lunda-Norte province, more than 100,000 vulnerable families are registered, of which more than 60,000 families in the municipalities of Cuango, Cambulo, Caungula and Lóvua have already benefited from monetary transfers.
Kwenda is a program from the Government of Angola, which aims to support families in situations of poverty or vulnerability. It is valued at USD 420 million, financed at 320 million by the World Bank (WB) and 100 million from the National Treasury.
The programme also includes a productive inclusion component, which aims to support the economic initiatives of families residing in the municipalities targeted by the project. HD/MRA/DOJ
