Lubango - A fake lawyer, who was trying to extort a family that has a relative in jail, was arrested, last Friday, in the city of Lubango, province of Huíla, by agents from the Department of Investigation and Criminal Offenses (DIIP).
The supposed lawyer allegedly deceived a family, whose relative was detained, from whom he received a fee of 14.000 kwanzas, but he is not qualified.
The young man even gained access to the hearing room to “defend” his constituent, which did not happen, as he was required to have a ID card and did not have it, so he was taken to the deputy prosecutor of the municipal command of the National Police, Enoque Wilson, who opened a criminal case.
When reacting on the matter, the president of the Bar Council (OAA) of Huíla, Henriques Ernesto, condemned the young man's attitude, as it trivializes a profession that “is noble”.
He advised that young people should study and specialize, to be able to carry out the activity in an official and honest way and not deceive distressed families.
He stated that in 2023 something similar happened, in which a law student tried to obtain his lawyer's license, but was discovered.
The OAA Provincial Council in Huíla has controlled 711 members, of which 411 trainee lawyers work in 52 law firms. JT/MS/CF/DOJ
