Malanje - Ten years after its stoppage, the 'Major Kanhangulo' shoe factory, assigned to the Social Security Institute of the Angolan Armed Forces (ISSFAA) in Malanje, will resume operation, starting in August, as a result of its restructuring.
In a first phase, military shoes and boots will be produced, in the order of more than a thousand pairs/day, against the 200 manufactured before the stoppage.
The information was given to ANGOP today by the ISSFAA delegate, Luís dos Passos, noting that the rehabilitation of the factory included the assembly of two new production ships, warehouse and other facilities, whose investment is set at 100 million kwanzas.
Also, during this year, a new production line of uniforms will be opened for the National Army and private security companies, as part of the partnership with a Serbian company.
The delegate said that, in addition to the former 49 workers (including administrative staff and blue-collar workers), new employees will be recruited from local vocational training centres, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the factory.
The 'Major Kanhangulo' factory was opened in October 2009. ACC/PBC/DOJ
