Ndalatando - Angolan government has said it will prioritise, this year, the conclusion of works that are at a standstill in the country for financial reasons, the minister of Territory Administration (MAT), Dionísio da Fonseca, said Thursday in Cuanza Norte Province.
According to the minister, the conclusion of these works is already included in the proposed General State Budget (OGE) for this year, which is subject to approval by the National Assembly, which sets out the actions to be carried out by the provinces during this financial year, with emphasis on works halted since 2013.
Dionísio da Fonseca, who was speaking to the press in Lucala Municipality, at the end of a 48-hour working visit, said the projects would be carried out with ordinary Treasury resources, in accordance with the reality of each province.
The minister added that there were many difficulties in public service due to the lack of infrastructures, such as schools, health centres, poor access to roads that have limited the development of the communities.
The minister clarified that the government is committed to reverse this situation in the next five years, with the implementation of over 14,000 projects, in various areas of the country to improve the quality of life of the population.
Dionísio da Fonseca explained that these actions would require large sums of money, which would not be mobilised all at once.
Despite the difficulties, the minister recognised the dynamism and commitment of municipal and communal administrators and administrative staff in implementing public policies aimed at meeting the needs of citizens.
Cuanza Norte has 86 projects registered in the PIIM (Integrated Programme of Interventions in Municipalities), of which 41 are already concluded and 30 are under execution.
The visit of the minister is part of the MAT’ s strategy to help and control provincial governments and municipal administrations, with the aim to boost local actions to improve the quality of services provided to the population.
