Luanda - Angola’s minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira announced the Government's intention to continue investing in projects inducing the creation of broadcasting industry and market.
The minister announced so at the presentation ceremony of the Secretaries of State for the Telecommunications, Technologies of Information, Pascoal Fernandes, and for Social Communication, Nuno Albino Caldas.
The official underlined that the idea is part of the digital communication strategy.
Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira points to greater investment in terms of national broadband infrastructure in underwater and terrestrial fiber optics.
The investment also covers satellite transmission infrastructure for the AngoSat communication network project and the earth observation programme, as part of strategy of the Management Office of the National Space Programme (GGPEN).
Meanwhile, the minister of the MINTTICS said that the AngoSat-2 project is underway and assured that both the country and the operators will benefit from the services that will be made available soon.
Angosat-2 has come to replace Angosat-1, launched in December 2017, which lost contact with the launch station shortly after entering orbit.
The new satellite is based on the Eurostar-3000 platform, with a lifespan of up to 15 years.
Delivering his speech at the presentation ceremony, witnessed by the National Directors, Presidents of the Boards of Directors and senior officials of MINTTICS, he reiterated the improvement of the social and working conditions of officials at the level of the supervisory bodies.
As for the training, Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira highlighted the professionals of the public media companies, as well as the personnel of the technical and engineering areas, to whom he described as the guarantee for a good communication.
As for the Journalists Training Center (CEFOJOR), the minister said that the revitalization process should continue, with the aim of creating better skills so that the technicians of Social Communication can continuously respond to major challenges.
To the Public Television (TPA), the incumbent minister underlined that the modernization programme does not end with the implementation of the news channel, while preparations are currently being made for the emergence of more channels and improvement of content production.
On National radio station (RNA), he said that one of the missions is to continue with modernization of the network of transmitters to expand the broadcasting signal in some gray areas still registered.
“This modernization is coupled with online broadcasting, as well as the discontinuation of the international channel from analogue to digital format”, he said.
With regard newspapers, the minister underlined that the companies and publishing service holders should improve the circulation component to reach the most remote areas of the country.
The minister also asked Secretaries of State Pascoal Fernandes and Nuno Albino Caldas for greater commitment, dedication and responsibility in carrying out their tasks in order to ensure the proper functioning of the sector.
