Luanda – Media professionals must adapt to new working methods, as they promote creative and sound journalism, the chairman of the board of directors of Portuguese Radio and TV station (RTP), Nicolau Santos, said on Thursday, in Luanda.
In this regard, he defends the need for media outlets to invest in digital platforms, to combat the drop in audience and in the financial revenue that has occurred in recent years.
He spoke about "The current and future challenges of managing media companies", within the scope of the seminar held at the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR).
According to him, companies should seek to create content that works on each social network, as a way of seeking profitability, financial autonomy and strengthening public credibility, adding that “Content must be available on all platforms”, he explained.
In the case of social networks, Nicolau Santos said that the digital transition currently constitutes a major challenge for media companies, as it requires investment, modernization, reorganization of newsrooms, a new operating model and a differentiated production process.
“Companies are finding it difficult to adapt to new challenges. There is currently a huge drop in revenue, a rapid drop in advertising and growing losses,” he highlighted.
The official advises administrators of public and private bodies to create studies or opinion polls to adapt the content made available to the public.
The two-day seminar brings together professionals from public and private bodies and competition to transform media companies into established and well-managed entities.
