Luanda – The Regulatory Body of the Angolan Mass Media (ERCA) has recommended press organs to play a crucial role in raising the awareness of the citizens for their participation in the on-going electoral process.
According to a note, ERCA explains that press organs and professionals are not competitors of political parties as they are only neutral agents to educate and mediate among the facts that occur and the citizens.
The ERCA advances that media organs and professionals are called to participate in the civic education processes aiming to preserve the conquests of the Angolan people, which include the peace and national reconciliation.
In view of this, ERCA reminds media players the duty to always use the deontological principles ensure that the information to be published be in line with the ideals of objective reporting, impartiality and freedom of expression as well as of thought.
