Saurimo – The vandalization of electrical equipment in Lunda-Sul Province caused losses of around 20 million kwanzas to the National Energy Distribution Company (ENDE), during the first half of this year.
In this period, ENDE recorded 27 vandalization acts in the Transformation Post (PT) Monoblock, more than 1,000 meters of cables, among other equipment.
According to the provincial director of ENDE, Cristiano Santana, who was speaking to ANGOP on Tuesday regarding the expansion of the public network in the district, the acts occur mainly in Saurimo, capital of the province.
On the other hand, he reported that ENDE's clients, including public and private institutions as well as individual clients, accumulate a debt valued at 2,000 kwanzas.
He added that the institution has been raising awareness among customers with the aim of negotiating ways to pay debts, without observing power cuts.
The official informed that there is underway the expansion of the power grid in the Candembe, Hyama, Conduril, Luari, Txizainga 2, Mpimbi, Kawzanga neighborhoods, as well as an increase in sales outlets, to bring services closer to customers.
The province of Lunda-Sul, with around 32,809 customers, has the Nhama (20 megawatts) and Txicumima (19.6 MW) thermal power plants as the main sources of production and distribution of electrical energy. JW/HD/MRA/DOJ
