Luanda – A donation made up of foodstuffs, clothes, matresses and electrical appliances was handed over this Saturday by the South African Embassy in Angola to the Nazareth Shelter Centre for vulnerable children, located in Cacuaco municipality, Luanda Province.
The beneficient act towards the mentioned centre –which shelters 37 children and youths aged between 6 and 20 (36 girls and 1 boy)- was led by the Embassy of South Africa in homage to the birthday of the former South African President, Nelson Mandela, marked on 18th July.
Speaking to the press, the South African ambassador to Angola, Oupa Ephraim Monarenge, said that his government will continue to support the referred shelter centre.
On the occasion, the diplomat – who expressed his satisfaction at the level of bilateral relations between the two nations – appealed for major Angolan investment in South Africa, having assured that his country is open to such move from Angola.
Nelson Mandela, deemed the most prominent figure in sub-Saharan Africa, received international recognition for his activism, having been distinguished with over 250 prizes and awards, including Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
The South African political activist marked world history with his staunch posture and fight against Apartheid and his service to humanity.
