uanda - The Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Angola, in partnership with ExxonMobil Foundation, honoured this Thursday, in Luanda, the empowered Angolan women, recognising the relevant services they provide to society.
The ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira, and the US ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, brought together women from various strata of Angolan society.
Most of the honoured women, who work in the areas of agriculture, entrepreneurship, literacy and fight against gender violence, have always counted on the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the ExxonMobil Foundation.
Speaking at the event, the US Ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, highlighted the partnership between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the ExxonMobil Foundation, as it has enabled the sustainable development of this African country.
He pointed out that this commitment is based on the promotion of malaria prevention, women empowerment, small agricultural entrepreneurs and catalysts in the prevention and care of HIV/AIDS.
In her turn, Melissa Bond, general director of the ExxonMobil company in Angola, said that her institution learnt with this African country and others, in development phase, that the efforts to increase the economic participation of women produce immense positive impacts on future generations.
He also said that ExxonMobil had invested over USD 100 million in community projects in Angola, with main focus on education, health, women and family, agriculture and environment, since 1994.
