Lubango - Journalists have been urged to refrain from partisan propaganda, but respecting the professional code of ethics.

The call was launched by the president of the Portfolio and Ethics Commission (CCE) Luísa Rogério on Tuesday in Lubango, southern Huila province.

CCE official was speaking during a meeting to clarify the professional card, incompatibilities, sanctions and punishment, designed for journalists of Huíla province.

She said that the professional should not be confused with the protagonists (politicians).

Luísa Rogério said that in recent days she has observed across the country journalists using her image on social media with propaganda material from political parties and calling for a vote, an attitude she described as wrong.

“The journalist, as professional, owes obedience to his/her code of ethics, respect for Angolan legislation. We cannot incur situations that may jeopardise the credibility of the body where you work and the journalist class”, she said.

Luísa Rogério noted that as a citizen, everyone has the right to be a member of any party and vote equally. But cannot be an active member and do the two things at the same time.

According to her, in Huíla, the province with 160 accredited journalists, there were three cases of incompatibility of professionals, who belonged to the board of a particular political party.

But she said that this situation has already been corrected with the suspension of their militancy.

Some 2,800 portfolios have already been distributed to the media professionals across the country.
