Dundo - A regional professional training center, for capacity building of technicians in the electrical sector, was inaugurated today, in the city of Dundo, administrative seat of Lunda-Norte province, by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges.
The center, with three classrooms, is part of the rehabilitation and expansion project for the Luachimo hydroelectric dam, also inaugurated today, and will train technicians who ensure the run of energy projects in Eastern Angola, which comprises the provinces of Lunda- North, Lunda-Sul and Moxico.
The old Luachimo power station building was requalified, which is now also known as the Luachimo Museum.
Of the three rooms, two are for theoretical classes and one, technologically equipped, for practice, with the capacity to accommodate 80 trainees.
At the center, young people will learn maintenance and operation techniques, machine and load control.
On the occasion, the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, said that the center's entry into operation will contribute to mitigate the shortage of qualified, basic technicians to handle the sector's projects.
He called for the preservation of the building and equipment, to ensure their durability and serve generations. HD/CF/DOJ
